Having a superior product isn't enough in today's competitive global marketplace; knowing how to market wares is equally vital for success. One company that recently earned industry kudos for succeeding in both these areas is Sweden-based Konftel AB, a manufacturer of conference phones and other audio products. This winter, GO Telecom-an importer and distributor of headsets and conferencing equipment-bestowed upon Konftel its Best Vendor 2006 award. The company beat out competitors including Polycom lifeSize, ClearOne, Aethra, and Aastra in winning this award. So what makes Konftel so special? Here's GO Telecom marketing manager Björn Heisterkamp, in a statement to the press: "We only work with good vendors, that makes the choice rather difficult. But looking at the way Konftel has helped both our customers and us to grow the business, and looking at how Konftel scores in terms of developing the market, supporting sales campaigns, running marketing activities, it is obvious that Konftel has a bit more than other companies." One reason for Konftel's success is the way it presents its products online, Heisterkamp said. "Have a look at the Konftel website," he noted in a statement. "Everything is there, there is a clear vision, the products are good and the site tells no more and no less than what end users and resellers need to know." When the award was given to Konftel, the company's EMEA sales manager, Peter Johannson, reportedly was at a loss for words. "For a man that sells conference phones, being without words is difficult!" Heisterkamp quipped. Maybe words aren't necessary in this case-the figures speak for themselves: by partnering, Konftel and GO Telecom enjoyed three years of double-digit growth.
