Voice Conferencing

Polycom's world-recognised, triangular-shaped SoundStation® line of conference phones is the first choice of every Fortune 100 company.  The SoundStation2 is Polycom's next generation conference phone and redefines the standard for business quality voice conferencing.

The latest in the SoundStation2 line-up is the VTX 1000TM, the world's first wideband, automatically adapting conferencing system for life-like sound in any size of conference room or executive office.

Polycom QSXTM allows voice communications together with the instant sharing of content so that users can share a live view of a computer screen, simply by dialling a Polycom conference phone. QSX works with any conference call setup, including calls using a conference bridge or a PBX.

Polycom also offers a variety of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) desktop and tabletop conference phones so companies can take advantage of the cost savings and enhanced features that VoIP offers, while still enjoying the clear communications for which Polycom is renowned.

Video Conferencing and Collaboration

In 1998, Polycom revolutionised the video conferencing industry with the introduction of ViewStationTM, a robust, cost-effective and truly simple-to-operate unit.

And then again in 2003, Polycom introduced the revolutionary VSXTM video conferencing platform, providing the best quality, most advanced group video conferencing units at value for money prices.

Polycom VSXTM 3000 is the first fully integrated personal video conferencing system delivering TV-like video and near CD quality sound with sleek dual function display and suitable for desktops, executive suites, remote offices, doctor's offices and educational resource rooms. The VSXTM 3000 is an all-in-one system that includes a high-performance video conferencing codec combined with a built-in camera, microphone, speakers and 17-inc LCD display that can also be used as a PC monitor.

Entry-level video conferencing systems include the Polycom VSXTM 5000, a dual mode (IP/ISDN) system, with support for dual monitor capability, as well as advanced data sharing; while the Polycom VSX 6000 is ideal for smaller, IP-ready conference rooms and for companies that require high-quality video collaboration on a limited budget.

The VSXTM 7000 series combines near-CD quality, crystal clear audio, exceptionally natural, smooth motion TV-like video with more innovative features to make it easier than ever to use - and, at an affordable price!

Based on the award-winning Polycom VSX architecture, the VSXTM 8000 series offers a small, rack-mountable solution that includes expansive options for integrating video communications into large conference rooms, educational settings or other integrated custom-room environments.

The Polycom V500TM is a simple, very affordable system for small businesses, remote offices and telecommuters who need to talk face-to-face.  So now, for around the price of a laptop, business users can easily plug and play to any television.

In the desktop arena, the Polycom PVXTM delivers the industry's most powerful and robust conferencing capabilities for personal users via their PCs and web cams.  The premium quality experience normally associated only with high-quality group video conferencing systems is now available at the desktop, delivering Siren 14 (14 kHz) audio and sharp H.264 video quality showing natural motion at a consistent 30 frames per second.

For sending and receiving content during a video conference, Polycom People+ContentTM IP software makes for effortless document sharing from your desktop.

The Polycom HDXTM 9000 series is a further breakthrough platform with the broadest flexibility and highest levels of performance to support any video collaboration application, including high definition (HD).  The Polycom HDX solutions deliver an experience like none other with the comprehensive benefits of HD Voice, HD video and HD content sharing, and feature many industry-first capabilities such as simultaneous HD dual streams for People and Content, SirenTM22 kHz StereoSurroundTM audio and unmatched HD camera performance.  The pure clarity, rich detail and extended fidelity allow for improved productivity and efficiency on a scale never before available in conferences over distance, approaching the same value as face-to-face meetings.

In January 2007, Polycom announced announced new high definition (HD) telepresence solutions that enable people working at a distance to communicate as if they were all in the same room.  The Polycom RealPresenceTM Experience High Definition (RPXTM HD) telepresence solutions provide an immersive collaboration experience unlike any other with unique features; they include full eight- or 16-foot HD cinematic views, SirenTM 22 kHz StereoSurround HD sound, and EyeConnectTM technology that puts the camera at eye level for more natural face-to-face interaction.  Polycom's standards-based HDXTM 9000 HD video systems are at the core of the RPX HD, making it the only telepresence solution able to call to any of the million-plus video systems already deployed on desktops and in conference rooms worldwide.

Network Systems

The Polycom MGCTM multipoint control unit (MCU) provides the most advanced features of any conferencing bridge and designed for mixed network and Service Provider environments.  It's the only MCU which functions both as a multimedia processor and an H.3xx gateway, and its features make the remote meeting experience more like a face-to-face meeting.  Continuous presence of up to 21 different layouts can be changed "on the fly"; multi-way transcoding allows sites with different frame rates, connection speeds, audio algorithms, resolutions, and network protocols to transparently connect with one another; a flexible suite of system and conference management applications empower users and reduce the need for on-site maintenance.

Launched in April 2005, the Polycom ReadiSeries platform is an integrated suite of solutions enabling enterprise organisations to easily deploy, manage, and scale rich media conferencing and collaboration services over mixed network environments.

Uniquely built on an Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA), the RMX 2000, launched in 2006 is a real-time media conferencing platform optimised for use on next generation IP networks and designed from the ground up to be at the heart of a unified communications network. The RMX 2000 simplifies the delivery and management of multipoint video (multiple locations on a single call) as well as unified conferencing (video, voice, and content all on a single call) for enterprises that require an infrastructure that supports room and extensive desktop deployments of video collaboration, on-demand or instantaneous conferencing, and high-bandwidth, processing-intensive applications such as high definition (HD) video and telepresence.  Capabilities enabled in RMX 2000 Version 2.0 will lay the groundwork for integration efforts that will bring next generation video communications applications to market with Polycom's strategic alliance partners in the service provider IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) infrastructure, IP PBX and presence-based collaboration markets.
